Athlete Stories: Oneata Schwalger (Rugby Union and League)

Oneata Schwalger hails from a small town near Wellington, New Zealand. A prop in Women’s Rugby, she performed incredibly well for the Wallaroos in the 2014 Women’s Rugby World Cup, showcasing her hard-running and abrasive style of play on the world’s biggest stage. Playing for the Melbourne Unicorns at a local level, Oneata also plays for the Women’s Cronulla Sharks rugby league team. Her brother, John, got two test caps for the All Blacks, but Oneata chose to follow the Australian pathway and has certainly made a name for herself in the sport. She lives

Her brother, John, got two test caps for the All Blacks, but Oneata chose to follow the Australian pathway. She has certainly made a name for herself in the sport, having also represented the Victoria Women’s team. She currently lives in Melbourne with her partner and two kids.
